Digital Desk: Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Barpeta on Tuesday in connection with a case registered against the legislator at the Barpeta Road police station.

Mevani had previously appeared at the Barpeta Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on July 17 and August 25.

Jignesh Mevani told reporters after appearing in court today that the court had cleared him of two charges under sections 294 and 353 of the Indian Penal Code.

The trial, however, will continue on two additional sections filed against him. Mevani stated that the court has scheduled another hearing for October.

The MLA is optimistic that the 'India' bloc will yield positive results in the country shortly.

Jignesh Mevani was previously arrested by Barpeta police on April 21, 2022, in connection with a case registered under Section 294/323/353/354 of the Indian Penal Code at the Barpeta Road police station.

Jignesh Mevani appeared before the court today in connection with a case filed against him, primarily for allegedly disrupting public responsibilities and violating the dignity of female police officers.

On the display of Sonia Gandhi as Bharat Mata in a Congress poster in Telangana, Jignesh Mevani stated that all women in this country are Bharat Mata.

Jignesh Mevani also questioned why the BJP and Modi remain mute about the rape of women in Manipur and Madhya Pradesh.

He stated that no matter what the name 'Bharat, Hindustan, or India' is, there is still no electricity in the homes of 4 crore people in the country, over 40 crore people are unemployed, and 20 crore people do not have houses.
