    Digital Desk: A massive eviction drive to clear 500 hectares of forest land is about to be launched by the Lakhimpur district administration in Assam.

    The eviction drive in the Lakhimpur district of Assam will be carried out on Tuesday (January 10).

    On Sunday, a practice eviction drive for the Lakhimpur district of Assam's planned eviction on January 10 was undertaken.

    On January 10, 500 hectares of forest area in the Assam villages of Adhasona and Mohaghuli would reportedly be cleared.
    The eviction drive will be carried out to clear encroached lands of the Pava reserve forest in the Lakhimpur district of Assam.

    In Assam's Lakhimpur district, over the past ten years, approximately 700 people are said to have encroached upon the Pava reserve forest area.

    People from various regions of Assam as well as those displaced by erosion and floods are among the alleged illegal settlers.
    Notably, Assam's administration has been undertaking eviction efforts in various districts since Himanta Biswa Sarma assumed control as the state's chief minister.

    A massive eviction campaign was carried out on December 19 of last year by the Nagaon district administration in Assam to remove over 5000 accused encroachers from public lands in Batadrava.
