Digital Desk: In the latest development, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Kumar Borah stated that the reports about the suspension of former Assam Pradesh Youth Congress President Dr. Angkita Dutta from the primary membership of the party are totally false and that she had already submitted a reply to the show cause notice within the given time limit.

In a statement issued on April 21, the APCC President stated, "I would like to inform you that we got the reply for the show cause notice we issued to Angkita Dutta. The response has been forwarded to the All India Congress Committee (AICC). We are not yet aware of any AICC judgments. The statement made by working president Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha is not an official statement to which he must answer."

Earlier, rumours of Angkita Dutta's suspension from the party circulated on social media, causing confusion. However, the Assam Congress released a statement rejecting the accusations and stating that Dutta had not been suspended.

Bhupen Borah issued the show cause notice on April 20 after Angkita Dutta submitted a complaint at the Dispur Police Station claiming harassment by Indian Youth Congress president Srinivas BV. The APCC had requested a response from Dutta within 24 hours to verify her allegations. Despite Bhupen Borah's ensure that he would look into the problem, Angkita Dutta chose to submit a complaint at the police station, which Bhupen Borah saw as a lack of trust in the party and the president.
