The Minister commended the Assam government's efforts in planning the Y20 awareness campaigns throughout the state.
Digital Desk: The three-day Y20 Engagement Group Inception Meeting came to an end on Wednesday in Guwahati with a closing ceremony.
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur introduced the White Paper on the five Y20 themes.
Anurag Singh Thakur received the Research Papers on five themes from Dr. Ranoj Pegu, minister of education for Assam.
The five topics are as follows: Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation, and the 21st Century; Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability as a Way of Life; Peace Building and Reconciliation: Ushering in an Era of No War; Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance; and Health, Well-Being & Sports: Agenda for Youth.
Anurag Singh Thakur discussed the five major issues that would be discussed at the Y20 while India is hosting the summit, saying that they were carefully selected to help shape the world's future.
According to him, these five topics offer the young people an extraordinary chance to design, participate, and work together on the G20 development agenda.
The Minister went on to say that this year's Y20 India Summit would be an example of youth-focused initiatives and show off forward-thinking policy changes designed by and for young people throughout the world.
The Minister commended the Assam government's efforts in planning the Y20 awareness campaigns throughout the state. Every higher education institution in Assam planned awareness efforts in 10 nearby schools to inform schoolchildren about G20 groupings and functioning, he said. This is a very commendable effort on the part of the Assam government.
The Minister urged the youth to take up sports and connect with their spiritual side for a meaningful existence to get relief from work stress and mental health difficulties while they are busy learning new skills, writing software, and creating start-ups.
Dr. Ranoj Pegu gave a presentation on research papers written by Assamese academics and students on the five Y20 themes.
The inaugural meeting of the Youth20 group was held in Guwahati, Assam, from February 6 to 8, as part of India's G20 Presidency, to solicit ideas for a better tomorrow from the nation's young and to prepare an action plan on the five Y20 themes that had been identified.
As may as 10,000 young people took part in the seminar, debate, workshops, and quiz competitions on Y20 throughout Assam's 36 institutions in the months leading up to the event. Also participating were more than 10 lakh pupils from roughly 4000 schools.
A total of 200 Indian delegates and 21 international delegates attended the inaugural meeting's main events.
