Digital Desk: Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika stated that a large number of Congress leaders are set to leave the party on February 5.

This statement was made just a day after former Congress MLA Bismita Gogoi and president of the Assam Youth Congress, Angkita Dutta, joined the group.

Hazarika stated that many more Congress leaders would be quitting the party on February 5, and he indicated that this wave of leaving Congress will continue.

"In February, many more leaders will be leaving the Congress. I hope that more party workers and prominent leaders will leave the Congress. Some people call us up every day asking to join the party. They had mistreated me once when I said that the Congress party would be destroyed. You can see now. This wave will not stop now; it will only get larger. While Narendra Modi is working for the country, Himanta Biswa Sarma is working for the state. And even these leaders of opposing parties are being compelled to join the BJP and support us because the people love us. This wave will continue," Hazarika stated.

The BJP received a boost yesterday with the addition of Angkita Dutta and Bismita Gogoi, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Former AASU vice-president Prakash Das and president Dipanka Nath also joined the BJP at the same time.

Meanwhile, Kamal Kumar Medhi, a former leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is set to join the BJP.

Hazarika is making hints on this day that many more Congress leaders will also leave the party and jump ship to the BJP.
