Resume Inter-City Trains, Demands Assam Rail Passengers Association

Guwahati: On Sunday, Assam Rail Passengers Association (ARPA) demanded the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to resume services of all inter-city and all passengers trains that run on the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) along the Guwahati-Rangiya-Nalbari broad gauge sections.

Dipankar Sarma who is ARPA’s General Secretary urged the authorities concerned to resume the train services especially as the offline classes of all educational institutes will open from Monday.

ARPA has also said that almost all the stations between Guwahati-Rangiya-Nalbari broad gauge sections today have raised their voice before all the authorities for the resumption of trains with UTS services. Memorandums have also been submitted to the Divisional Railway Manager in Rangiya.

If the services of these trains remain suspended it will be the common people who will suffer the most as many earn their livelihood by traveling in these inter-city trains.

“We are hoping NFR will realize the importance of normal train running in the same status that was available up to 22nd March 2020,” the General Secretary added.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that some of the short-distance trains, locals, and intercity have resumed services on certain routes.

As per the State Government guidelines, inbound and outbound passenger trains to and from the state are permitted.
