Digital Desk: The 'Shraddh' rituals of late actor Nipon Goswami, who passed away will be held at Sukreswar Temple in Guwahati, informed his daughter-in-law Kinkini on Tuesday. The veteran actor passed away following a cardiac arrest at the age of 80 on Oct 27 while undergoing treatment at Nemcare Hospital.

"Saddened by the demise of Shri Nipon Goswami, who made a groundbreaking contribution to the Assamese cinema industry," wrote PM Modi in a letter.
Assam CM Sarma posted a message in Assamese on Twitter lamenting Nipon Goswami's passing, saying, "I am pained to hear of Assamese film industry's evergreen star Nipon Goswami's departure. I had the good fortune to meet him in my youth while working on the movie "Kokadeuta Nati Aru Hati," and I was grateful for the chance.”
Nipon Goswami was born in Assam’s Tezpur. A former student at the esteemed Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), where luminaries like Subhash Ghai, Navin Nischol, and Shatrughan Sinha have graduated.
Goswami made his film debut in Assam in 1957 as a young actor in the Phani Sarma film Piyali Phukan. Sangram, his debut Assamese film in a leading role, was a commercial success.
In addition to acting in a few TV serials like "Writu aahe writu jaai," he has been actively involved in mobile theatres such Abaahan, Kohinoor, Hengul, and Shakuntala.
