Assam Police recruitment exam papers are under cloud after surfacing on social media

Around 66,000 candidates took written tests in 154 locations across the state for 306 positions of SI in two shifts.

Digital Desk: The written test for Assam Police sub-inspector (SI) recruitment, held on Sunday, has been overshadowed by reports that the question paper was leaked on social media.

The exam was held in 154 centres across the state, where around 66,000 candidates had appeared for 306 posts of SI in two shifts, timed between 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm (2nd shift).

In this incident, Naranarayan Nath, the Secretary of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), denied the statement regarding the question papers of the written tests for the post of SIs were leaked when the test was going on.

He added to his statement, "The written test was concluded successfully at 12 noon on Sunday. Sharing question papers on social media after the conclusion of the test does not attract any importance."

Pleading the aspirants not to believe such oddity news, Nath said, "People with vested interests may make the question papers viral on social media to mislead the aspirants."

"The question papers are kept at the examination centres until the results are announced because many candidates do not include the question paper series number in their OMR sheets." It assists the authority in determining which candidate used which question paper series by matching their roll number on the question paper and the OMR sheet. That is why candidates are not permitted to remove the question papers."

However, till now SEBA hasn't clarified things about how the exam question paper got leaked if the students weren't allowed to take away papers or any electronic gadgets to the examination hall.

It is to be said that the exam papers got leaked from a whatsapp group, and from there, they went viral and circulated on other social media platforms.

Aspirants are demanding Assam Government to look into the matter and the Director-General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to investigate this matter. For further details info, the police department refused to comment in this regard.

Previously, the question paper for the written examination for 597 Assam Police sub-inspector posts was circulated on September 20, 2020, forcing the authorities to cancel the test minutes after it began across the state.
