    Dima Hasao Landslide: Assam Govt Announces Financial Aid To The Victim’s Families

    It may be mentioned that the ministers went to the Dima Hasao district to assess the damage in the district, which the constant rain has caused over the past several days. 


    Digital Desk: Assam government has extended an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakhs to the next of the kin of the victims who lost their lives due to a landslide in the Dima Hasao district of the state.


    The Assam’s Hills Area Development minister, along with the Power Minister Bimal Bora, went to the district and handed over the cheques to the victim’s family. 


    Earlier on May 14, at the Hokai Punchi village near Haflong, three persons, including a child, were buried alive in concrete due to a heavy landslide and mud slip. However, later with the help of 11 Assam Rifles personnel and the locals, the bodies were recovered. 


    It may be mentioned that the ministers went to the Dima Hasao district to assess the damage in the district, which the constant rain has caused over the past several days. 


    Notably, during their visit to the district, the ministers were accompanied by DHAC CEM, Debolal Gorlosa, MLA Nandita Gorlosa, chairperson Ranu Langthasa and others. They took stock of the various damaged sites caused by a landslide and mud slip.


    According to reports, more than 50 families have lost their homes in the district and over 10 schools have been made temporary relief camps. Meanwhile, 106 stranded people were airlifted to their destination by Indian Air Force.


    It is to be noted the flood situation in Assam worsened and more than 57,000 people in around 222 villages were affected due to the flood caused by the constant rainfall in the state.
