Rainstorms to strike heavily in these two NE states, IMD reports 'Orange Alert'

Assam and Meghalaya are highly probable to see hefty rains over the next three days as moist southwestern winds continue to blow in from the Bay of Bengal.

Digital Desk: 'Orange alert' for Assam and Meghalaya, amid continuous rain in various regions of northeast India, the IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) has forecast even more severe downpours and thunderstorms over the next five days.

According to the most recent weather channel update, heavy precipitation is expected in several northeastern states, primarily isolated areas. As per IMD, solid and moist southwestern winds continue to blow in from the Bay of Bengal and onto the northeast region.

For the next 5 days, areas across Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh are likely to see pretty widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. 

During the same period, isolated to scattered rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Manipur.

According to the weather forecast, isolated heavy showers may hit Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 

Assam and Meghalaya will experience the same weather pattern until Tuesday, April 12, and isolated regions in both states will likely experience hefty rainfall between Saturday, April 9 and Monday, April 11. The department has issued a yellow alert for the next 24 hours due to its concern about the five states' weather.
