Digital Desk: In a major operation aimed at curbing illegal arms activities in Assam, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam police carried out a successful raid under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of STF Assam, Guwahati Satyendra Singh Hazari. Based on an input, the STF conducted a raid at Matibur Rahman's residence at Harasatapu, Muslim Chapori of Dhekiajuli police station in the early hours of Thursday and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition. The STF also arrested three individuals for allegedly being involved in the illegal activities. In addition, the STF seized two vehicles- one Bolero Car and one Royal Enfield Motor Cycle from their possession.
The recovered illicit weapons included an HK 33, in assault rifle, 30 rounds of 5.56x45 mm ammunition, and three mobile phones. The two vehicles- Bolero car bearing registration number AS-12U-9887 and Royal Enfield Motor Cycle bearing registration number AS-12AF-7217 were also seized.
The arrested individuals were identified as Matibur Rahman (26), Julfikar Ali (32), and Sohidul Islam (30). The seized arms and ammunition, two vehicles, and the apprehended individuals were later handed over to the Dhekiajuli Police Station for further legal action. Investigations are underway regarding the matter.
The successful raid in Dhekiajuli by the STF was a part of Assam police's efforts to curb unauthorized arms trade and related criminal activities in the state.
