Asian Games 2023: India to face Malaysia at women's cricket quarterfinals in Hangzhou China

Digital Desk: India will face Malaysia, while Pakistan will face Indonesia in the quarter-finals of the Asian Games 2023 women's cricket. India will face Malaysia in the last-eight match at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou, China.

Since they were the top-ranked Asian teams in the ICC Rankings, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh were given direct access to the quarter-finals.

Notably, Malaysia entered the contest after defeating Hong Kong by 22 runs on Tuesday, October 19. In contrast, Indonesia defeated Mongolia in a group-stage match. Hong Kong then won the quarter-final qualifier against Hong Kong to advance to the last-eight round.

India squad for Women's Cricket at Asian Games- Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wk), Amanjot Kaur, Devika Vaidya, Titas Sadhu, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Minnu Mani, Kanika Ahuja, Uma Chetry (wk), Anusha Bareddy, Pooja Vastrakar.

Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, and Saika Ishaque are on standby.

Last year, India faced Malaysia in the Asia Cup, scoring 181 runs in 20 overs before securing a 30-run win via DLS owing to a weather delay.

As cricket returns to the Asian Games for the first time in nine years, India is the overwhelming favourite to capture the gold medal. Pakistan won the championship in 2010 and 2014, whereas India is competing in their first Asian Games.
