The wedding celebration starts on 20th December…
Digital Desk: Olympic medallist and the pride of Indian badminton, P.V. Sindhu, is set to tie the knot with a Hyderabad-based businessman, Venkata Datta Sai, on December 22 in Udaipur. The wedding celebration starts on December 20 with the main wedding ending in a grand but simple wedding ceremony and a reception dinner held in Hyderabad on December 24.
Sindhu and Venkata’s families have known each other for some time now, but it was not until a month ago that the plan to engage them was made. Sindhu’s father, P.V. Ramana, said they set the wedding date to consider Sindhu’s training and competition schedule, noting that the coming season is sensitive for his daughter’s progress in badminton.
Sindhu, 29, is the only badminton world champion from India and became an Olympic legend after winning consecutive medals—the Rio 2016 silver and Tokyo 2020 bronze. She recently got the title of the Syed Modi International after breaking a two-year-long title wait. Apart from that, Sindhu is also constructing her own
sports academy, namely the ‘P. V. Sindhu Center for Badminton and Sports Excellence’ in Visakhapatnam city in India.
It is expected that the functions will be grand and elegant, like the status of Sindhu, requiring a large palette. After that, the celebrations are over, and Sindhu will get back into the rigorous training to prepare for the international tournaments in early January. The tightly scheduled event allows her to manage her achievements as an individual whilst being one of the leading athletes in India.
