Digital Desk: Rahul Dravid, the current head coach of India's cricket team, is set to lead the squad until the T20 World Cup in June 2024. BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed the extension of Dravid's contract, which had initially ended after the ODI World Cup final last year.

The decision to retain Dravid, along with the support staff, for the December-January tour to South Africa was made without finalizing the duration of his tenure.

Shah revealed that he recently had a conversation with Dravid, leading to the decision to continue his role until the upcoming ICC event in the West Indies and the USA. Despite the lack of an official announcement during the South Africa tour, Shah assured that Dravid would stay on as the coach for the T20 World Cup.

The uncertainty surrounding Dravid's coaching tenure arose due to the incomplete discussions during the hectic schedule after the 2023 World Cup.

Shah clarified that the extension was agreed upon after their recent meeting, emphasizing Dravid's commitment to the role and his immediate departure for the South Africa tour.

Addressing concerns about the contract's duration, Shah reassured fans and stakeholders that there was no need to worry about a senior figure like Dravid, confirming his continued role throughout the T20 World Cup.

The announcement was made by Shah during the renaming function of the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, highlighting the stability and confidence in Dravid's coaching leadership for the upcoming cricketing challenges.
