New Delhi: The charismatic and iconic cricketer MS Dhoni is loved and respected by his former Indian teammates. He not only enjoys this respect among his peers but also in the international front too. The only captain in the history of the game to lead a side to title victories in all three ICC events, Dhoni captained Team India for nearly a decade.
Under his captainship, India won the T20 World Cup 2007, 2011 50-over Worl Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Dhoni played a key role in the success of players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and a few others as he backed them when they needed the captain’s support.
His on-field persona and the ability to read the game impressed many, including KL Rahul. Although the India opener didn’t get the chance to play a little longer under Dhoni, he did spend ample time with the former India captain in the dressing room.
Heaping praise on the former Indian Captain, K L Rahul said that Dhoni’s name arise first in his mind when talking of captains of his era. Speaking to Forbes India, Rahul also said that any one of them could even take a bullet for him. "The minute anybody says captain, the first name that comes to mind from our era will be MS Dhoni. We have all played under him. Yes, he has won a lot of tournaments, done amazing things for the country but I think the biggest achievement that as captain you can have is the respect of your teammates and any of us would take a bullet for him without a second thought," he said.
