Digital Desk: A second international player in the Delhi Capitals squad tested positive for Covid-19, raising questions about their match against Punjab Kings at Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium later this evening. A round of Rapid Antigen Tests done on Wednesday morning gave a positive result.
According to a report from PTI, it's been revealed that Tim Seifert of New Zealand is the sixth player from DC to test positive. Surprisingly, the wicket-keeper batsman had practiced with the rest of the Delhi Capitals side on Tuesday.
The organizers are said to have preserved the possibility of postponing the match, which was moved from Pune to Mumbai on Tuesday. The IPL has also requested that the Capitals team undertake a second round of tests on the franchise's staff, and the outcome of today's match may be determined once those results are released. Meanwhile, the Kings players are said to be on their way to the arena, indicating that the match will occur as planned.
After Australian allrounder, Mitchell Marsh, physio Patrick Farhart, sports massage therapist Chetan Kumar, team doctor Abhijit Salvi, and social media content team member Akash Mane, the player, is the sixth member of the Delhi Capitals crew to test positive.
Because the teams are located in Mumbai, the decision to relocate the location - from Pune to one of the stadia in Mumbai - was made at a meeting on Tuesday "to avoid any further issue owing to any undiscovered case during a long-distance bus travel in a closed environment."
Marsh was reportedly sent to the hospital as a precaution after feeling poorly, including experiencing chills. The others who tested positive were transported to a separate facility outside the team hotel since the hotel where the Capitals are staying had stipulated that anyone testing positive, even if they were asymptomatic, would be required to vacate the premises.
According to the report, BCCI has told DC that selected players to play in Wednesday's game at Brabourne Stadium would be tested.
