Digital Desk: With Team India's recent loss to South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2022, many fans and experts have begun to question Rohit Sharma and the team. However, former India captain Sourav Ganguly believes that the team can reach the final in Australia. "India only lost one match. India will qualify. Everyone is doing well. I hope India will qualify. I am optimistic that India will play in the finals. Let them qualify, after that, they will play the last two games. That can be anyone's game," said Ganguly at the Annual General Meeting of the Cricket Association of Bengal.
Ganguly also wished his brother Snehashish, who would now lead CAB. On Monday, October 31, the CAb was handed over to the new administration. "This is the new leadership group for CAB. They are all extremely experts. We wish them success. I'm not required to make recommendations to them. All of them know what to do. They'll perform well. There will be a World Cup next year. It is not difficult to organise a World Cup," the former BCCI president said.
The 50-year-old also expressed his hope that the office bearers would support the Bengal cricketers. "Bengal is doing well. They play terrific cricket every time. I hope the new office bearers will do the same for the players. There are a lot of skills in the Bengal cricket team, such as Shahbaz Ahmed, Shami, and Mukesh Kumar," he said.
Shami is presently in Australia playing for the Indian cricket team. The veteran pacer picked up a wicket in the opening victory against Pakistan and then another against the Netherlands. In the loss against South Africa, he was India's best bowler, claiming one wicket in four overs while allowing 13 runs to be scored.
Ganguly also stepped down as BCCI President on October 18 in Mumbai, with Roger Binny elected as the new President.
