IPL 2022: Delhi Capital's player Mitchell Marsh tests positive for covid-19

Notably, Marsh was found positive in a second RT-PCR test result, despite the first report being negative.

Digital Desk: Australian Cricketer and Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.  Notably, Marsh was found positive in a second RT-PCR test result, despite the first report being negative.

Marsh has previously tested positive in a routine Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted as part of IPL bubble standards.

According to the BCCI's testing protocols, every member of an IPL team in a team bubble is examined every fifth day, unlike last season when it was done every third day. However, if the franchise wants to test the members independently, they are welcome to do so.

All of the other players' RT-PCR results were negative. However, team physio Patrick Farhart tested positive for the virus a few days ago. Two other support staff members have also tested positive, along with Marsh.

"Mitchell Marsh's first RTPCR report was negative. However, the second RT-PCR data came out positive. All of the other players tested negative for RT-PCR. The match between DC and PBKS on Wednesday is not in risk ," a top BCCI official told PTI on Monday.

The virus threat inside the controlled environment has escalated as Covid cases have increased outside the IPL bio-bubble.

Last season, the event was forced to be halted in the middle owing to the second wave. In September-October, it was continued and completed in the UAE.
