WhatsApp released new update for users to transfer their chats from Android to iPhone; details here

On Tuesday evening, Meta CEO and Founder Mark Zuckerberg announced the news in a blog post.

Digital Desk: WhatsApp announced on Tuesday that it would release a new version that will allow users to transfer chats from Android phones to iPhones. Owners will be able to download the latest update as part of Apple's' move to iOS' program, which implies that new iPhone users will be able to do so when setting up their device. On Tuesday evening, Meta CEO and Founder Mark Zuckerberg announced the news in a blog post.

"We're adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption. This is a top requested feature. We launched the ability switch from iPhone–>Android last year, and now adding Android–>iPhone as well," said Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Meta.

The new feature will be rolled out as part of the WhatsApp beta starting today and will be available to all users within a week, as per WhatsApp.

Current Apple iPhone users will need to backup and reset their phones to use the latest update.

People were eagerly waiting for the new feature as there was no method to move WhatsApp data between Android and iPhones. However, specific third-party data transfer programs are available on the market, although they are misleading.

Here's how to move WhatsApp conversations from Android to iPhone.

• On an Android phone, open the Move to iOS app and follow the on-screen instructions.

• Following that, the iPhone will display a code. Enter the code on your Android phone when prompted.

• Continue by tapping the Continue button and following the on-screen instructions.

• On the Transfer Data page, choose WhatsApp.

• Wait for WhatsApp to prepare the data for export by tapping 'Start' on your Android phone.

• Once the data is ready, you'll be signed out of your Android phone.

• Return to the Move to iOS app by tapping 'Next.'

• Wait for Move to iOS to ensure that the data transfer from your Android phone to your iPhone is complete before tapping 'Continue.'

• Then go to the App Store and download the most recent version of WhatsApp.

• After that, open WhatsApp and sign in with the same phone number that you used on your previous device.

• When prompted, tap Start and wait for the process to finish.

• Then turn on your new device, and your chats will be ready.

WhatsApp claimed in a statement that the entire data flow is end-to-end encrypted and that the platform will be unable to view any of the chats or data.
