Rather, the judgment is the right step towards implementing the diktat of the Quran," Himanta Biswa Sarma added.
Digital Desk: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the Karnakata High Court's Hijab judgement on Tuesday, saying it was the correct step toward enforcing the Quran's diktat. In an interview with the media, he stated that kids should prioritise education before religious attire. Maintaining that pupils are allowed to wear whatever they choose outside of the classroom, he assuaged Muslim fears by stating that the ruling is not against them. "That's why the Karnataka High Court's verdict is logical. No Muslim brother or sister should feel that this judgment is against us. Rather, the judgment is the right step towards implementing the diktat of the Quran," Himanta Biswa Sarma added. It was hearing the petition of students at the Government P.U. College for Girls in Udupi who wanted permission to wear a hijab to class and a directive that it is a "essential practise" of Islam. The court has elegantly resolved major concerns relevant to the Hijab debate in its 129-page opinion, emphasising that the prescription of the school uniform is just a legitimate constraint to which students cannot disagree. "Young students are able to readily grasp from their immediate environment, differentiating lines of race, region, religion, language, caste, place of birth, etc. The aim of the regulation is to create a 'safe space' where such divisive lines should have no place and the ideals of egalitarianism should be readily apparent to all students alike. Adherence to dress code is a mandatory for students," it elaborated.
