Digital Desk: A Delhi court granted BJP MP and outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh two-day interim bail on Tuesday in connection with sexual harassment allegations raised against him by various female wrestlers. The interim bail was granted on bonds of Rs 25,000 each.

Brij Bhushan objected to the chargesheet being reported verbatim in court and also claimed a media trial. In response to the allegations, the court stated that an appropriate application may be moved.

The interim bail was also granted to Vinod Tomar, the suspended WFI assistant secretary. The regular bail plea will be heard by the court on Thursday.

The court also warned media personnel to be careful with their reporting and not misquote the judges. "Bad media reporting has consequences and can constitute contempt of court," the court said.

Prior to Brij Bhushan's appearance before the Rouse Avenue Court, security was stepped up outside of his home. Six female wrestlers have accused Brij Bhushan Singh of sexual harassment and intimidating them.

On June 2, Delhi Police filed two FIRs and ten complaints against Brij Bhushan Singh based on sexual harassment charges made by wrestlers. Among the allegations leveled against the WFI chief were attempts at inappropriate touching, such as placing his hand over the chests of girls, moving his hand from the chest to the back, and chasing them, etc.

Brij Bhushan Singh, a six-time MP, was charged on June 15 under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has refuted all allegations of sexual assault and even released a strong statement denying all charges.
