Digital Desk: Tragedy struck in Dakshin Sarania, Ulubari as a young man lost his life to electrocution while on duty. The deceased, identified as Jitu Boro, was a resident of Dimoria in Sonapur.
Having recently passed the ADRE examination in April 2025, Jitu had just begun his career as an assistant in the Electricity Department.
Serious allegations of negligence have surfaced following the incident. It is reported that lineman Tapan Lahkar instructed the trainee to climb an electric pole to perform repairs without providing any essential safety gear, such as a helmet or protective gloves.
However, the power supply to the area had not been disconnected and reports suggest that there was a fatal lack of communication between the lineman and the control room.
Witnesses recounted that immediately after Jitu climbed the ladder, a single scream was heard as he was struck by the high-voltage current.
The sudden demise has left Jitu's family in deep mourning. His father, overwhelmed with grief, shared that the family was already preparing for Jitu's wedding, which was scheduled for this October.
In the wake of this preventable tragedy, the grieving father has made a desperate appeal to the government and the administration, seeking justice and accountability for his son's death.
