Digital Desk: The body of 29-year-old Mridul Talukdar, who had been missing since September 19, was recovered from the Palla River in Baksa. The discovery has sent shockwaves through the Hatkhola area under the Anand Bazar police outpost.
He was suspected to be murdered due to an extramarital affair by a man named Manab Das from the same village.
The victim was found in a gruesome state- gagged, with his hands and feet bound and his body submerged under a large rock to prevent it from surfacing.
According to police reports, Mridul left home on September 19, telling his family he was heading to Zubeen Khetra with a fellow villager, Manab Das. When he failed to return, his family filed a missing person report at the Anand Bazar police station.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debasish Kayastha stated that the investigation quickly pointed toward a murder motivated by an extramarital affair.
During interrogation, Manab Das provided sensational details that led authorities to the location where the body was hidden in the river.
Manab Das is currently in the custody of Salbari police custody as investigators work to determine if others were involved in the crime. The body has been sent to Mushalpur for a post-mortem examination.
The horrific nature of the killing has sparked intense public outrage throughout the Anand Bazar region.
