Digital Desk: The Gauhati High Court ordered action against the responsible officer in connection with Rs.100 crore scam in the fisheries department.

Sources quoted that the order was issued after hearing petitions citing public interest.

Reportedly, the scam was committed with the cooperation of the top officials of the fisheries department, under the name Matsya Jagaran.

The scheme's funds were withdrawn without digging a pond.

Following the hearing of the case, the court ordered to take strict action against the accused.

It further stated that, from now on, all legal procedures must be followed in the release of the scheme funds.

Notably, the Assam government launched the "Matsya Jagaran- Ghare Ghare Phukuri Ghare Ghare Maach" scheme.

The main goals of the scheme were the expansion of the fish culture area, increasing the production of fish, social and economic development of the rural populations and creating opportunities for self-employment.
