Over the past few months, Ambani and his family had received numerous threatening emails from Vanpardh, threatening to harm them if they did not comply with his demands.
Digital Desk: The Mumbai Police arrested Ganesh a 19-year-old Ramesh Vanpardh, Telangana native, for allegedly sending threatening emails to Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani. The emails threatened severe consequences if the ransom demand of Rs 400 crore was not fulfilled. Over the past few months, Ambani and his family had received numerous threatening emails from Vanpardh, threatening to harm them if they did not comply with his demands.
After his court appearance, Vanpardh, the accused, has been held in police detention until November 8.
An accused from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, was also detained by the Mumbai Crime Branch for reportedly sending industrialist Mukesh Ambani several threats via email, according to ANI.
Three such death threats targeting Mukesh Ambani have been received in recent months; the most recent one, which originated from the same email address as the other threats and was traced back to Belgium, demanded more than Rs 400 crore. Antilia, Ambani's home on Altamount Road, is surrounded by more security now that the Mumbai Police have responded to the incident. In addition to the security measures being deemed insufficient, the threats made it clear that the authorities could not find or apprehend the sender.
The Belgian-based email service provider is being actively contacted by the Mumbai Police in an attempt to identify the sender.
Mukesh Ambani received a threatening email earlier from someone posing as Shadab Khan, demanding a ransom of Rs 20 crore. This email, which featured threats of violence if the money was not paid, was sent from a company address located in Belgium as well. The ransom was raised to Rs 200 crore in response to a second threat made using the same email address.
Concerns about the safety of Mukesh Ambani, one of India's most well-known businessmen and the richest person in Asia, as well as his position ninth on the global rich list, have been raised by these events. He already receives the advantages of 'Z' Plus security, which is offered by the central government. Private guards serve as an extra security ring around the main government security personnel.
