The Indian Navy Chief, Admiral R Hari Kumar, and every Navy member expressed their condolences for the passing of ground crew member Yogendra Singh, according to a Navy official.


Digital Desk: A Chetak helicopter crashed on the INS Garuda naval air station's runway in Kochi on Saturday.

The accident happened at the naval air station while maintenance taxi checks were being done. According to a statement released by the Navy spokesperson on X, one member of the ground crew was killed in the incident.

"A Chetak helicopter met with a ground accident today during maintenance taxi checks at INS Garuda, Kochi, resulting in the unfortunate loss of life of one ground crew," the statement read.

The spokesperson for the Navy continued, "A Board of Inquiry has been directed to look into the cause of the accident."

"Adm R Hari Kumar & all personnel of Indian Navy mourn the loss of life & pay tribute to Yogendra Singh, LAM who lost his life in the unfortunate accident at Kochi and extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family," another statement read.
