Mangaldai: A high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Executive Director for India, L Satya Srinivas, and Country Director — India, Mio Oka, conducted a comprehensive visit to the Assam Skill University (ASU) campus in Mangaldai on Wednesday, July 23, 2026. The visit aimed to review the university's cutting-edge infrastructure dedicated to skill development and vocational training.
Upon their arrival, the ADB officials, accompanied by the INRM Mission Team, were warmly received by a contingent of ASU leadership. Among those present were Subhash Chandra Das, IAS (Retd.), Vice-Chancellor of Assam Skill University; Dr Om Prakash, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary for the Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department; and Hanif Noorani, ACS, Registrar of Assam Skill University.
During their tour, the delegation explored various academic and practical learning facilities within the university. They paid particular attention to the state-of-the-art workshops and advanced laboratory setups, which included specialized units for Semiconductor Technology, Electric Vehicle systems, Solar Energy applications, Robotics and Cobotics, and Additive Manufacturing. These facilities are designed to provide students with hands-on, industry-relevant experience, aligning with global skill development standards.
The ADB representatives also engaged in direct interactions with students, faculty members, and project officials. These discussions offered them firsthand insights into ASU's innovative, industry-oriented practical learning ecosystem and its commitment to fostering a skilled workforce for the region. The visit underscores the ongoing collaboration and interest in enhancing skill development initiatives in Assam, leveraging international expertise and support.
