Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma officially launched the initial phase of interim flood relief assistance on Monday, aiming to provide crucial support to families severely impacted by the state's recent devastating floods. The distribution, conducted via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), was initiated by the Chief Minister through a video conference from Dibrugarh, underscoring the government's commitment to swift aid.

Concurrently, a dedicated financial assistance programme was held at the Bokakhat Co-District Commissioner's Office conference hall, marking the on-ground implementation of this relief effort. Here, 146 identified beneficiaries from the Bokakhat constituency, encompassing both Bokakhat and Khumtai revenue circles, received their first installment. Each eligible flood-affected family was credited Rs 15,000 directly into their bank accounts, signifying immediate financial succour.

Officials indicated that comprehensive assessments of losses sustained by other flood-affected families across Assam are currently in progress. As these evaluations conclude, additional eligible beneficiaries will progressively receive financial assistance in subsequent phases, strictly adhering to the government's established guidelines for relief distribution. This systematic approach aims to ensure equitable and timely support reaches all those in need across the state.
