Taking to X, CM Sarma questioned whether MP Gogoi visited Pakistan for a period of 15 days. He further asked whether Gogoi's wife Elizabeth Colburn Gogoi has continued to receive a salary from a Pakistan-based NGO and inquired about Gogoi's wife and children's citizenship.

Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked three questions to Congress leader and MP Gaurav Gogoi about his alleged connections to Pakistan on Sunday.

Without mentioning Gaurav Gogoi's name in his X post, CM Sarma targeted the MP and asked three questions.

The three questions asked by CM Sarma are:

1. Did you visit Pakistan for a continuous period of 15 days? If so, could you kindly clarify the purpose of your visit?

2. Is it true that your wife continues to receive a salary from a Pakistan-based NGO while residing and working in India? If so, may we ask why a Pakistan-based organization is paying a salary for activities conducted in India?

3. What is the citizenship status of your wife and your two children? Are they Indian citizens, or do they hold the citizenship of any other country?

Earlier on Saturday, MP Gogoi accused CM Sarma of deliberately sidestepping from the illegal coal mining operations in Assam and Meghalaya, revealed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Gogoi's statement came after the ED carried out search operations in 15 places in Assam and Meghalaya as part of a money laundering investigation linked to illegal coal mining.

He further alleged that nearly 1,200 tonnes of coal with bribes ranging from Rs 1.27 lakh to 1.5 lakh per truck, have been moved daily.
