Digital Desk: In a chilling incident, a young contractor from Assam's Gossaigaon was allegedly murdered and dismembered in Chennai.

The victim, identified as Amir Ali of Harbhanga village, had been working in the city for nearly a decade.

Investigations reveal that Amir Ali recently entered a romantic relationship with Rahima Khatun, a Bangladeshi national he met at a Chennai hospital.

After her visa expired, Rahima reportedly hid in Kolkata before returning to Chennai 15 days ago to reside Amir Ali in his rented accommodation.

On June 5, along with two accomplices, allegedly murdered Amir Ali, dismembered his body, and packed the remains into a trolley bag.

Chennai Police later arrested Rahima and two other suspects involved in the gruesome crime.

The victim's family in Gossaigaon has been notified as authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the targeted killing.
