Abdul was arrested for allegedly carrying 30 grams of heroin and operating the illegal trade from a rented house in the Chelakkulam area near Kochi.

Digital Desk: A migrant worker from Assam, identified as Abdul Rauf (35) was arrested in Kerala's Perumbavoor for allegedly being involved in an illegal drug trafficking case. Abdul, a native of Nagaon, was arrested by the joint operation of the Special Investigation Team of the Perumbavoor ASP Sakthi Singh Arya and the Kunnathunadu Police, an investigation officer said.

Abdul was arrested for allegedly carrying 30 grams of heroin and operating the illegal trade from a rented house in the Chelakkulam area near Kochi.

He was arrested following a tip-off and later confessed to his crime. He said that he had been bringing heroin from Nagaland by train and selling it through agents in the area.

The drugs were sold in small bottles at Rs 500 per piece. Police also seized Rs 84,000 cash from him. Police confirmed that he had stored hundreds of bottles at his residence and was living a lavish life.  

Investigation is underway to trace other individuals who are associated with him.
