Phase one covering Upper Assam and Barak Valley will be held on May 2, while the second phase will be held on May 7, covering Middle and Lower Assam.

Digital Desk: Assam will have panchayat elections in two phases on May 2 and May 7, 2025, the Assam State Election Commission announced on Wednesday.

Voting will take place in more than 25,000 polling stations across Assam. The counting of votes will take place on May 11.

Phase one covering Upper Assam and Barak Valley will be held on May 2, while the second phase will be held on May 7, covering Middle and Lower Assam.

The filing of nominations for the polls will begin from April 3, while the scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 12.

The last day for withdrawal of candidature is April 17.  

Around 1,20,000 polling personnel will be deployed across all the districts, while 1,80,36,682 voters will cast their votes.

The voter base has increased to 13.27% from the previous polls.

In the first phase, the polling will take place in Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Majuli, Jorhat, Golaghat, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Cachar, Hailakandi, and Sribhumi.  

The second phase will cover Dhubri, South Salmara, Mankachar, Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Bajali, Nalbari, Kamrup Rural, Kamrup Metro, Hojai, Nagaon, Morigaon, and Darrang.
