Digital Desk: A shocking incident has surfaced from Patharquary, Guwahati, where a class 10 student fell victim to a heinous crime involving deceit and human trafficking.
The young girl was reportedly lured into a relationship through social media and subsequently sold for two lakh rupees in Haryana under the pretense of love and marriage.
The ordeal began when the girl, a resident of Patharquary, connected with a man identified as Rakeeb Ali on Facebook. Their online acquaintance gradually developed into romantic relationship.
On March 6, Rakeeb Ali allegedly abducted the girl, promising marriage, and took her to Haryana. Once there, he reportedly sold her for two lakh rupees.
When the girl went missing, her family promptly filed a complaint at the Noonmati Police Station.
Acting on the FIR filed under Section 87 of the BNS act, the police registered Case No. 43/26 and launched an investigation into the matter.
A dedicated team from Noonmati Police carried out a rescue operation in Haryana, successfully recovering the abducted girl.
During the operation, they also arrested a man named Ajit, suspected to be part of the human trafficking network.
However, the primary accused, Rakeeb Ali, remains at large. The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend him and dismantle the trafficking ring associated with this case.
