Digital Desk: For an extended period, wild elephants from the Rani forest area have been venturing out in search of food, causing havoc in regions such as Palashbari's Tiniali, Kallapara, Parkuchi, and Rongamati.
Over the last two years, these wild elephants have frequently crossed National Highway 17, wandering into areas like Batorhat Rajapukhuri, Nahira, and Guimar, where they have caused significant damage to human settlements.
Recently, a herd of six wild elephants rampaged through the Nahira area, breaking into granaries, stealing stored paddy, and destroying homes and property.
Despite repeated complaints from local residents to the Loharghat Forest Division regarding the ongoing devastation caused by these elephants, the forest department has failed to take effective action, fueling growing frustration among the locals.
In the past, incidents of human casualties due to elephant attacks were reported in the Rongamati area of Palashbari.
However, the forest department has yet to implement any meaningful measures to prevent such human-elephant conflicts.
This prolonged inaction has left the residents of these affected areas increasingly angry and disillusioned with the authorities.
