  • Samagra Shiksha, Assam (SSA) has instructed district authorities to ensure schools participate in the Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) 2026, a national initiative promoting hygiene and environmental sustainability

GUWAHATI: Samagra Shiksha, Assam (SSA) has issued a directive to all District Mission Coordinators (DMCs), urging them to ensure the active participation of eligible schools across the state in the Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) 2026 programme. This move aligns with instructions from the Department of School Education & Literacy under the Union Ministry of Education, aiming to foster a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility within educational institutions.

The SHVR 2026 programme is designed to cultivate cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation, and environmentally sustainable practices within school premises through a structured rating system and various campus-level activities. The overarching goal is to encourage schools to maintain clean, safe, and eco-friendly environments, while simultaneously raising awareness among students and other stakeholders regarding sustainable living.

District Mission Coordinators have been specifically tasked with disseminating the necessary instructions to all eligible schools within their respective districts. Schools are expected to register and participate in a timely manner via the dedicated SHVR Portal or its accompanying Mobile Application. To streamline coordination and oversight of this significant initiative, SSA has recommended designating the District Programme Officer (Community Participation) as the District Nodal Officer. This nodal officer will be responsible for monitoring, coordinating, and reporting on school-wise participation throughout the programme.

This directive underscores a concerted effort to integrate environmental stewardship and health awareness into the foundational years of education, promising a cleaner and more conscious generation across Assam's learning landscape.
