Digital Desk: Naharkatia MLA Taranga Gogoi formally takes over as president of the Assam Cricket Association today. The Association's election results were announced on Sunday. 

Taranga Gogoi along with the remaining five members of the association won uncontested. 

Other members of the Apex Council are Rajinder Singh (joint secretary), Chiranjit Langthasa (treasurer), and Anupam Deka (member of, the Apex Council).

While taking over, Taranga Gogoi talks about Assam Cricket Association's plans. He said that the people of Assam can enjoy a high-voltage match between India and Sri Lanka at Barsapara Stadium ahead of Bihu.

Additionally, he stated that the ACA will ask the BCCI for additional international matches to be played in Guwahati, including World Cup matches when India hosts the tournament in 2023.

Moreover, the Assam Cricket team, which reached the semi-finals with improved performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, will be given a reward of Rs 25 lakh.
