Digital Desk: Barpeta Road Police has intensified their crackdown on illegal IPL betting activities following reports of widespread gambling networks causing financial ruin to local families.
Acting on a specific tip-off, police carried out a successful raid and arrested two individuals.
Jahir Ali, one of the accused, was arrested from Gorom Bazar in nearby Bilasipara.
During the operation, police seized cash, mobile phones used for betting, and several related documents from his possession.
The police have stated that further investigations are underway to dismantle the larger betting syndicates operating across the town and its surrounding areas.
