Digital Desk: Bhawanipur Police has arrested the prime suspect and an accomplice following a major robbery on the night of April 28 in Bhawanipur, Bajali.


The victim, Govinda Pal, a brass and bell metal trader from Lurashur village, had dispatched a vehicle to Lakhimpur district to sell his merchandise.  


While returning with Rs 8.20 lakh collected from the sales, the vehicle was intercepted around 1:30 AM in East Bhawanipur village.


The robbers seized the cash and fled with the vehicle.


Following the incident, Govinda Pal lodged an FIR at Bhawanipur Police Outpost.


A secret investigation revealed that the vehicle's driver, Sahed Khan (44) from Kalgachia village near Barpeta, was the mastermind behind the heist.


Police subsequently arrested Sahed Khan along with his associate Ali Hussain (46) from the same village.


Authorities successfully recovered a four-wheeler with registration number AS-01-AX-5621 from the accused.


Bhawanipur Police has launched a massive operation to trace two other individuals involved in the crime.
