The leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia demanded the condemnation motion against the MP on March 21 in the Assam Assembly.

Digital Desk: Opposition MLAs of Assam demanded a condemnation motion in the State Assembly against BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi over his "mini Bangladesh" remark on Dhubri district.

During a discussion over voter duplication and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the Rajya Sabha, MP Trivedi referred to Dhubri district as "mini Bangladesh", which sparked political controversy and heated argument in the Assam Assembly on Friday.

The leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia demanded the condemnation motion against the MP on March 21 in the Assam Assembly. Saikia said that MP Trivedi had insulted the entire state of Assam and it should not be tolerated.

His demand was supported by AIUDF MLA Rafiqul Islam who questioned the government's stance on Dhubri statehood.

However, the appeal for a condemnation motion was unaddressed as the Assembly session moved forward without resolving the matter.
