Digital Desk: Basistha Police Station (PS) conducted an efficient arrest of the notorious burglary gang along with stolen item recovery in less than eight hours after lodging an FIR.

The resident Kirti Prakash Chaudhury (38) filed an FIR report at 11 PM on 8th March 2025 from House No. 03 in Uttam Path of Basistha in Kamrup (M) Assam. Chaudhury reported to the authorities that his family left for Tihu, Khetrapara around 11 AM on 7th March 2025. During the absence of Kirti Prakash Chaudhury (38) and his family, unknown miscreants broke into their house and they stole a Sony TV along with brass utensils clothes, and sanitary items. A neighbor alerted Chaudhury through phone call about the burglary.

Following an emergency 112 call, Basistha Police Station quickly registered Case No. 147/25 under U/S 331(4)/305(a) of BNS which justified the police investigation. Police officials arrested five members of a burglary gang that included veterans. Moreover, in a very period of time the stolen goods were retrieved from the jungle area at Patarkuchi.

2. Bishal Das @ Bangal (18) – Resident of Goalpara

3. Nandeshwar Rohang @ Nande (18) – Resident of Basistha, Kamrup (M)

4. Deep Bania @ Khepu @ Babu (21) – Resident of Darrang

5. Vivek Brahma @ Tikla (18) – Resident of Kamrup (M)

Recovered & Seized Items:-

✅ 4 Bell Metal Plates (Kahor Kahi)

✅ 8 Bell Metal Bowls (Kahor Baati)

✅ 4 Steel Bathroom Taps

✅ 2 Brass Glasses (Pitolor Glass)

✅ 2 Burglary Rods

✅ 1 Red-Colored Bag

The authorities have started legal actions to recover all stolen possessions and track down others associated with this criminal operation. The investigation remains active.
