Digital Desk: In poll-bound Chhattisgarh, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader was killed on Saturday in the Narayanpur district, allegedly by Naxalites, according to a police officer.
While campaigning for the Assembly elections that are set for November 7 and 17, Ratan Dubey, the vice president of the BJP's Narayanpur district unit and the area's convenor for the Assembly, was fatally stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon in the Kaushalnagar village market.
According to the official, a police team has hurried to the scene and is working to apprehend those responsible.
BJP leader Om Mathur, Condoling the incident in a message on X said, "I am deeply saddened by the brutal murder of Chhattisgarh BJP's Narayanpur Assembly convenor and Narayanpur district vice president Ratan Dubey ji by Naxalites during the campaign. The entire party condemns this cowardly incident.
The incident has coincided with allegations of "targeted killings" of its workers in the run-up to the elections made by the opposition BJP.

Elections are scheduled for November 7 for 20 Assembly seats, including Narayanpur. November 17 will be the second round of voting for the 90-member House, and on December 3 votes will be counted.
