Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress party today due to the betting app controversy involving Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

PM Modi accused the Congress of using hawala money provided by illegal betting operators to bankroll its election campaign in Chhattisgarh while speaking at a rally in the poll-bound state.

The latest revelation comes after the Enforcement Directorate said on Friday that forensic research and a confession made by a 'cash courier' led to "startling allegations" that Mahadev betting app developers paid Baghel around Rs 508 crore.

"These were the subject of investigation," the investigation agency added.

"The Congress party's Chhattisgarh government is leaving no opportunity to loot you," PM Modi added. "They didn't even mention the term 'Mahadev.' A major operation occurred in Raipur two days ago. A massive stash of cash notes was discovered. People say money belongs to gamblers and bettors." explained PM Modi.

"Congress leaders are stuffing their pockets with looted money. You can observe who its linkages lead back to in media reporting. The state administration and the CM should explain to the people of Chhattisgarh what ties they have with the people implicated in this scam who are sitting in Dubai. Baghel is perplexed and has collapsed after the money was seized," according to the Prime Minister.

PM Modi went on to say during the rally, "Action will be taken against those who looted Chhattisgarh. Every dime will be taken away from them. Chhattisgarh's corrupt administration has repeatedly betrayed your faith... I guarantee you once more that whenever the BJP takes control of the state, such scams will be thoroughly probed, and those who cheated you will be imprisoned."

Earlier today, Union Minister Smriti Irani aimed at Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, alleging that he received a payoff of around Rs 500 crore.

In turn, the chief minister has accused the BJP of employing central investigating agencies to target him ahead of the state assembly elections on November 7 and 17.
