The objectives included testing air raid warning systems, ensuring the readiness of communication links with the Indian Air Force, activating control rooms, and assessing civilian evacuation plans

Digital Desk: The Assam Police's Home Guard and Civil Defence wing organized statewide air attack preparedness exercises across 18 locations within 14 civil defence districts on Wednesday to address mounting security risks after the Pahalgam terror attack killed 26, mostly tourist victims, on 22nd  April .

Civil Defence conducted the exercise during 4 PM followed by a 30-minute timeframe across 18 located distributed throughout 14 districts of Assam according to Inspector General of Police (Home Guard and Civil Defence), Arabinda Kalita. . He confirmed that the exercise successfully tested the state’s preparedness, monitored time-bound response parameters, and evaluated the functionality of defence systems.

Strategic facilities, including refineries and cantonments, and nuclear plants, guide the establishment of civil defence districts in contrast to traditional administrative regions. During emergency situations, these specific locations get extra priority.

The drill combined fire services with the health department and disaster management authorities, and BSNL and DIPR as well as additional essential agencies, under a coordinated effort. Prior to execution, the Fire & Emergency Services headquarters distributed operational guidelines.

Air raid testing was combined with the assessment of Indian Air Force communication readiness, together with control room activation and civilian evacuation plan evaluation. The assessment considered crash blackouts in addition to vital installations, camouflage, and civilian programs that taught hostile attack responses.

The nationwide mock drill is intended to enhance national preparedness by implementing coordinated civil defense systems throughout approximately 300 districts following guidance from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The situation intensified after India launched missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK early Wednesday in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack.
