His arrest follows a corruption allegation against him earlier this year.

Assam Desk: The Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell arrested Kokrajhar Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Surjya Baruah on Monday in connection with a case of possessing disproportionate assets. After the arrest in Kokrajhar, Baruah was brought to Guwahati for further legal proceedings. 

The team raided Baruah's rented house in Dhubri and seized several documents. Following the raid, the team seized a Scorpio car and recovered Rs 3.50 lakh from his vehicle.

His arrest follows a corruption allegation against him earlier this year. 

During a search operation on January 20, the vigilance team seized Rs 45.77 lakh cash, more than 10 tolas of gold, four vehicles, a pistol, arms and ammunition, and several documents from his residence in Bhangagarh, Guwahati.
