Crackdown at 13th Mile: EGPD Team Solves Sonapur Dacoity Case, 5 Arrested

Based on technical intelligence, the team launched a night-long operation across Byrnihat, Nongpoh, and 12th Mile

Digital Desk: A joint team of EGPD comprising SOG, Sonapur Police Station, and Jorabat Outpost has successfully cracked the Sonapur dacoity case reported on August 24, 2025, at 13th Mile, Tamulikuchi. According to technical intelligence, the team deployed a night long operation in the Byrnihat, Nongpoh and 12th Mile, resulting  in arrest of  5 accused and stolen goods are also  recovered.

Those who are arrested are Maxxpil K Marak, Bijoy Thangkhiew (45), Nur Mahammad alias Ali (36), Tronit Sangma (31) and Hilbert Sangma (30). They are all residents of Nongpoh, Barpeta or sonapur.

Recovered items include:-

·        One SBL gun, an iron dagger (1.5 ft), two sharp knives and a mask.

·        Two looted mobile phones, gold-like ornaments, and ₹2,000 cash

·        A Redi-Go (ML10B7842) and a Tata Tigor (ML10B6113)

Thanks to swift and coordinated action, legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.
