The body was sent for an autopsy at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
Digital Desk: A 25-year-old female body was discovered floating to the surface at Dighalipukhuri pond, Guwahati with unknown circumstances on Saturday, 15th March.
The police identified Deepsikha Nath as the deceased person from Satgaon who had recently completed her graduation.
The Satgaon OC Abhijit Kakoti confirmed that Nath left home the day before to celebrate Holi but never returned to her residence. A verbal complaint about her loss was submitted to Satgaon Police Station by family members at 7 pm after which the police department of satgaon and Paltan Bazar began their inquiry.
The investigators successfully located her body floating in the pond's waters at approximately 8 pm," the OC stated.
As per reports, she attempted to take her life twice but she survived. However, this time her life was cut short. The police team are trying to determine the cause of what happened.
During the initial examination, Kakoti did not discover any evidence of external injury on the victim. Hospital staff sent the deceased body to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for autopsy examinations.
The police officer confirmed that Pan Bazar Police Station registered an official unnatural death case to allow investigators to conduct their further investigation.
