The impact of the earthquake was so massive that it led the Myanmar government to declare an emergency and close metro, airport, and railway services. Following the earthquake, electricity and internet are down in several parts of Myanmar. 

Digital Desk: Six devastating earthquakes jolted Myanmar on Friday, with strong tremors felt in neighboring Thailand's capital, Bangkok, Director of National Centre for Seismology (NCS) DR OP Mishra said. 

A massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake jolted central Myanmar at around 1 pm, leading to widespread destruction in the area. The earthquake took at least 20 lives with hundreds of people feared dead and more than 50 people trapped under the debris. 

The tremors were felt through several countries, including Thailand, India, Bangladesh, and China.

The impact was so severe that a high-rise building collapsed in Bangkok, claiming three labourers lives, while several others are still trapped. 

Several buildings, religious shrines collapsed in Myanmar's Mandalay, and roads developed cracks in the capital city Naypyidaw. 

Another strong earthquake of magnitude 6.4 on the Richter Scale occurred just 11 minutes later, an aftershock of the previous 7.7 magnitude earthquake. 

Another earthquake took place at a depth of 10 km with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter Scale.  

An earthquake of 4.4 magnitude on the Richter Scale occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km. Another earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred at a depth of 30 km. 

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurred as a result of the aftershocks of previous earthquakes. 

As per government reports, around 150 people died and 730 people were injured, with the possibility of a rise in casualties.
