Acting on a tip-off, the team, led by DSP Satyendra Singh Hazari arrested the accused from "Sunfist Dhaba" of Dibrugarh. As per report, they were planning to transport the reptiles to Mohanbari.

Digital desk: In a major crackdown on wildlife trafficking in Dibrugarh district of Assam, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police recovered 11 Tokay Gecko lizards, arrested 3 men, and seized their vehicles.

Assam police said this in a post on X. It also informed that the recovered Geckos would be released back into the jungle.

The accused were identified as Debashish Dohutia, Manash Dohutia, and Dipankar Gharphalia.

The reptiles are estimated to be worth over Rs 60 lakh in the international market.  

The accused individuals admitted that they brought the Geckos from Arunachal Pradesh.
Two vehicles including a four-wheeler were also seized from their possession.
