Digital Desk: In a heartbreaking and shocking turn of events, a domestic altercation in Doomdooma, Tinsukia, led to the death of a young couple on June 9.
The tragic incident unfolded in the 37th division of the Bichakupi tea estate, where a 25-year-old Bimal Tanti fatally attacked his pregnant wife, 22-year-old Promila Tanti, with a sharp weapon.
The attack took place in broad daylight as Promila was en route to her job as a daily laborer.
Eyewitnesses intervened and apprehended Bimal, ultimately resorting to mob justice by lynching him.
Doomdooma police, alerted to the situation, arrived at the scene and rescued Bimal in a critical situation.
He was rushed to Tinsukia Medical College for urgent medical attention but succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The tragic death of both parents has left their young child orphaned, adding to the community's grief.
Preliminary investigations suggest that domestic discord may have been the root cause of this horrific incident.
