The alleged accused had been operating a cyber fraud network from a rented house
Digital Desk: Cybercrime incidents continue to rise across the state, prompting intensified action by law enforcement agencies. Today, in a major breakthrough, Barpeta Police, arrested eight alleged cyber criminals during a special operation.
The search operation was carried out at Azad Nagar in Barpeta Road under the leadership of Samiran Baishya, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), along with Shyamal Jyoti Saikia.
As per police sources, the alleged accused had been operating a cyber fraud network from a rented house in Azad Nagar for a considerable period. Acting on specific inputs, the police team conducted a raid and detained all eight youths from the premises.
The rented house reportedly belongs to a retired army personnel, identified as Kazi Lutfor Rahman, where the accused had been staying as tenants while allegedly carrying out fraudulent activities.
Police have launched further investigation into the case, and more details are expected to emerge.
